چکیده

Accurately predicting the required spatial resource for aggregate block assembly in shipyard production is difficult due to the following reasons: 1) lack of optimal block on-jig configuration and 2) the dynamic and stochastic nature of production system. Consequently, managerial objectives are seldom achieved without effective production planning and control. In this study, a look-ahead scheduling mechanism with an application of discrete-event simulation is proposed to solve the dynamic spatial scheduling problem. A systematic simulation-based framework is suggested for validating schedules generated at high-level planning together with a heuristic-based optimizer for improving spatial resource utilization. Through imitation of the dynamic spatial operation under various priority rules, statistical analysis of resultant performance can be conducted to select the best performing control policy. A case study with computational experiments is performed and results are reported. Issues relevant to system implementation are highlighted as well.

A Spatial Scheduling System and its Application to Shipbuildin

ABSTRACT Spatial scheduling considers not only traditional scheduling constraints like resource capacity and due dates, but also dynamic spatial layout of the objects. Automation of spatial scheduling is particularly important when the spatial resources are critical bottleneck resources, as is the case in the shipbuilding industry. To develop a spatial scheduling expert system for shipbuilding,...

A chance-constrained multi-objective model for final assembly scheduling in ATO systems with uncertain sub-assembly availability

A chance-constraint multi-objective model under uncertainty in the availability of subassemblies is proposed for scheduling in ATO systems. The on-time delivery of customer orders as well as reducing the company's cost is crucial; therefore, a three-objective model is proposed including the minimization of1) overtime, idletime, change-over, and setup costs, 2) total dispersion of items’ deliver...

New scheduling rules for a dynamic flexible flow line problem with sequence-dependent setup times

In the literature, the application of multi-objective dynamic scheduling problem and simple priority rules are widely studied. Although these rules are not efficient enough due to simplicity and lack of general insight, composite dispatching rules have a very suitable performance because they result from experiments. In this paper, a dynamic flexible flow line problem with sequence-dependent se...
